If these chrome monstrosities on this Avenger are real alloy wheels or covers put over the wheel. My girlfriend's mom's Avenger has these and her dad says they're covers over the real alloy, I think they're just badly plasti-chrome dipped rims. What do you think?

A quick search on car-part.com leads me to believe they're "chrome" plastic covers.

But...they might be covering up an alloy wheel?

i was broken-hearted. tried in vain to talk my buddy into 'saving' the covers and blacking out the alloy's underneath. 'twas a metallic black r/t with blacked out grille & corsa pipes. seemed like a car deserving of wheels, not caps. 'murica.

yea, aside from the exhaust it was just a beasty, long-legged camry. but i do have to say, the seats are made of goodness.
